Sæplast Receives VÍS Safety Award

The VÍS Safety Conference was held for the fifteenth time, March 20, at Harpa, under the theme “Working Safely Every Day.” As one of the largest events of its kind in Iceland, the conference brings together experts and leaders who share their experiences and best practices in safety and preventative measures. The agenda featured six presentations and the presentation of the VÍS Safety Awards, which honor those demonstrating outstanding achievements in the field of workplace safety.

Sæplast received the VÍS Safety Award in the category of companies with fewer than 100 employees. This recognition highlights Sæplast’s strong and ongoing commitment to safety and prevention across all aspects of its operations. As a leading manufacturer of plastic containers and a member of the international Rotovia group, Sæplast places great emphasis on ensuring the safety of its employees and customers.

Safety and preventative measures are deeply embedded in Sæplast’s corporate culture. Company leadership is actively involved in reinforcing a strong safety mindset across all levels of the organization. Following any incident, accident, or near miss, there is a systematic focus on implementing corrective actions. Solutions developed in response to such events have garnered attention within the Rotovia group and have been adopted across its operations.

The Importance of Prevention and Workplace Safety

A proactive approach to safety is fundamental to a company’s long-term success and the wellbeing of its workforce. By fostering a robust safety culture, companies can reduce the incidence of accidents, improve morale, and increase overall productivity. This begins with cultivating an environment where safety is a shared responsibility and where every team member is accountable for their own safety and that of their colleagues.

A strong safety culture leads to fewer incidents and better business outcomes. When leadership demonstrates a clear commitment to safety, and when employees are actively engaged in prevention efforts, awareness of potential risks increases throughout the organization. This, in turn, supports better decision-making and strengthens the sense of responsibility among employees.

Education and training are key pillars of effective safety practices. Regular instruction on safety protocols and emergency response equips staff with the tools they need to react confidently and appropriately in unexpected situations. This builds their confidence and significantly reduces the likelihood of accidents occurring.

Through its dedication and continuous improvement, Sæplast has demonstrated the critical value of safety and prevention in the workplace. By making these principles a core part of its operations, the company has not only safeguarded its team but also strengthened its overall performance and market position. This recognition from VÍS stands as a testament to Sæplast’s leadership in safety and its role as a model for other organizations.
